The importance of self-care in the teachers that are instructing future generations of the world’s population cannot be understated. However, too often do teachers finding themselves placing their students’ needs first and their own personal needs last. Teachers must prioritize their needs and the nurturement of their body, especially when they’re sick. Understanding that they’re importance goes beyond their job, and every student and classroom will survive as in the days in which they prioritize their health and well-being. In additional efforts to releasing stress, teachers should engage in meaningful conversations with their peers. Professional peers may have insight on classroom management ideas, self-care strategies of their own, or can just be someone to talk to about life outside of work. Being able to recharge professionally and personally is key to maintaining a healthy work life balance. While these strategies are effective, often times stress will outweigh what a teacher can find in pleasure throughout the day.
